About us

We started Harbor & Hope to make sure no neighbor stands alone.

We provide rapid, flexible assistance and trusted resource connections to individuals and families across the Bay Area and Santa Cruz County. Our goal is to help people remain housed, maintain employment, meet essential needs, and regain stability.

Our story

Built on the belief that no one should face hardship alone.

Harbor and Hope was founded after seeing how quickly an unexpected hardship can threaten a person’s housing, employment, and stability. Too often, a relatively small but urgent need falls outside the assistance available through traditional programs.

We created Harbor and Hope to help fill those gaps with timely, practical support. When another organization is better equipped to meet the need, we help connect people with trusted programs and community partners. We also bring volunteers together to provide practical assistance and human connection.

What we believe

The values that guide us

Dignity first

We meet every person with respect and compassion — never judgment. Asking for help takes courage, and we honor that.

Community over charity

We don’t just give; we connect. Lasting change happens when neighbors show up for one another.

Hope in action

Hope isn’t passive. We pair encouragement with real, practical help that moves people forward.

Trust & transparency

We steward every gift carefully and responsibly and share meaningful updates about how community support is used.
